It's been a hard year for the city of Chicago, particularly its inner city. But one baseball team is giving some distraction and joy to the town known as the "City of Broad Shoulders."

The Jackie Robinson West Little League team from that city's south side needs two wins to be called the best Little League squad in the world after beating a team from Philadelphia, 6-5 on Thursday night in the LLWS U.S. semifinals.

The squad will face Eastlake Little League from Chula Vista, California, for the American title on Saturday. That winner will face the winner of the Seoul, South Korea LL/Tokyo Kitasuna LL game for the world championship on Sunday.

Chicago has suffered from a year which has already seen a reported 246 murders within city limits.

However, baseball fans and plenty of others in Chicago are rallying around the team as a positive sign to come from that part of America's third largest city.
