Hellweg, Rogers earn Brewers Minor League POY awards
Right-handed pitcher Johnny Hellweg and first baseman Jason Rogers have been named the Brewers Minor League Pitcher, and Player of the Year, respectively.
The 24-year old Hellweg spent the majority of the season at AAA Nashville and posted a 12-5 record with an ERA of 3.15. Hellweg was also named the Pacific Coast League's Pitcher of the Year and was a PCL all-star. The 6'9" Hellweg was recently called up to the Brewers and will enter the starting rotation in the final month of the season.
Rogers, 25, spent the entire season at AA Huntsville and hit .270 with 22 home runs. Rogers' 87 RBI lead the Southern League. Rogers could end up being a gem from the 2010 draft class. He was drafted in the 32nd round out of Columbus State University.
