Big weekend for the fight against cancer

CREATED Jun. 7, 2013

For 43 years, celebrities from the world of sports and entertainment gather at North Hills CC in Menomonee Falls for the Vince Lombardi Golf Classic - one of the longest-running two-day charity golf tournaments in the United States. Over $100,000 was raised for cancer research last year and $80,000 was raised via auction at the Friday night gala event.

For the second consecutive year, I'm thrilled to be the emcee of the gala Friday night at the Intercontinental Hotel in Milwaukee.

Last year, I was staring out at the crowd of several hundred people, including hall of famers Bart Starr and Robin Yount, but I was most empowered hearing the story of the cancer survivor who was in attendance.

As for the golf event: Packers kicker Mason Crosby and the legendary Bart Starr are co-chairmen of the event. It begins at 10:30am Saturday at North Hills CC. You can be a member of the gallery and watch Packers of today and yesterday, along with several other celebrities, play golf. A $10 donation gets you in, and gets you a souvenir autograph book. Hope to see you there! I'll be the guy with no hair, looking for my ball in the woods.

In addition to the golf event, there is a run/walk scheduled for Saturday morning. It starts and ends at the Milwaukee County Zoo. On-site registration begins at 6:30, and the event begins at 8:15.

Cancer has no conscious, and events like this truly make a difference

Below is the current celebrity list. Note - celebrities are subject to change. For example, former Cincinnati Bengals running back Ickey Woods got stuck at the airport last year. Good times!
