Dayne among 12 selected for HOF induction
Former Wisconsin Badgers running back Ron Dayne was one of twelve former college football standouts to be selected for induction into the college football hall of fame Tuesday afternoon.
Dayne, will be joined by former All-Americans, Danny Wuerffel (QB, Florida), Tommie Frazier (QB, Nebraska), Vinny Testaverde (QB, Miami), Tedy Bruschi (LB, Arizona), Ted Brown (RB, North Carolina State), Jerry Gray (DB, Texas), Steve Meilinger (multiple positions, Kentucky), Orlando Pace (T, Ohio State), Rod Shoate (LB, Oklahoma), Percy Snow (LB, Michigan State) and Don Trull (QB, Baylor). In addition, former Head Coaches Wayne Hardin (Navy, Temple) and Bill McCartney (Colorado) will be inducted in a December ceremony.
At a Tuesday afternoon press conference in Madison, Dayne said, "It's just great to be able to come back and still get awards...it's just great. I can't stop smiling."
According to UW Athletic Director, Barry Alvarez - who is a member of the selection committee - Dayne was a unanimous choice.
