"Urinal Gaming" coming to a minor league ballpark near you
One of the reasons I really love minor league sports is due to the liberties front office staff often takes in regards to the fan experience. We've all heard of wacky promotions like "jock strap day" - heck, even the Milwaukee Admirals held a tribute to Uranus night complete with a "thumbs up Uranus" contest involving trivia questions pertaining to the gaseous planet.
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs are capitalizing on a golden opportunity to debut something they call the "urinal gaming system."
Here's how it works: when a person approaches the urinal, a video display mounted above each urinal will switch into gaming mode. The person...ummm...relieving himself, will aim left or right to control play on the screen.
The IronPigs play at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. Coca-Cola Park will be the first stadium to feature the gaming system, and it will be up and running by opening day next week.
