Greg Jennings thanks Packers fans with full-page ad
After spending seven memorable seasons with the Green Bay Packers, wide receiver Greg Jennings turned down the Packers reported contract offer in lieu of a 5-year, $47.5 million dollar offer from the Minnesota Vikings.
As a sign of closure on his time in Green Bay, Jennings took out a full-page ad in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel thanking the fans for seven wonderful years.
No one has ever questioned the quality of person Jennings is. He has always been a dedicated, hard-working teammate and family man. He was a player Packers fans grew to know and identify with. With Jennings, fans felt like they knew the person beyond the player.
That connection is likely what prompted Jennings to buy the ad space. I always appreciate when players do things like this. I remember former Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Geoff Jenkins doing something similar when it was clear his time with the Brewers was up. I know that went a long way with Brewers fans, and I'm sure this will go a long way with Packers fans. This was not some marketing idea planted by the team. This was Jennings being Jennings. His idea. His dollars.
