NCAA says "No" to Akron's request to wear Twitter handles on back of jerseys
The University of Akron will host "Social Media Night" at the arena on February 2 for their men's basketball contest against conference-rival Ohio University.
As part of their plan, the University asked the NCAA for permission to imprint the Twitter handle "@ZipsMBB" on the back of the team's jerseys. The NCAA said, "No". Big surprise.
The team will, instead, print the Twitter handle on the back of their shooting shirts that will be worn during warmups.
Most interesting to me is not the NCAA's decision, but, rather, what they do allow to be printed on the back of a player's jersey.
