Tony Plush takes his act to Japan

Tony Plush takes his act to Japan

CREATED Jan 24, 2013

The Associated Press is reporting that former Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Nyjer Morgan has agreed to a one-year, $1.6 million dollar deal with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Japan's Central League.

The 32-year-old Morgan has a career batting average of .280 and 117 stolen bases over six seasons in the major leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals and Brewers.

Perhaps his best season in the big leagues came with the Brewers in 2011, where he hit .304 while helping Milwaukee win the National League Central. Unfortunately, Morgan could not duplicate his outstanding season in 2012 and hit just .239.

Despite just two seasons in Milwaukee, Morgan will unquestionably go down as one of the classic characters in franchise history. His clubhouse, dugout and on-the-field antics were usually entertaining, and sometimes off the wall. Personally, I've never been around a guy who bounces around a clubhouse quite like Nyjer - and always with a smile on his face. Talking with Morgan always made my day better.

No word if Morgan will need to purchase two seats on his flight to Japan (one for himself, and one for Tony Plush).
