Broncos' "Tebow Package" an afterthought
Late in the 4th quarter, as the Packers (4-0) were imposing their will on the Denver Broncos (1-3), a small portion of the sellout crowd at Lambeau Field starting chanting "Tebow! Tebow!". Perhaps those people blinked and missed his one turn under center. On the Broncos' second possession, Tebow took a shotgun snap on first-and-ten, bobbled the snap, darted left, and was buried for a one yard loss. Back to the drawing board.
The Broncos had planned to use quarterback Tim Tebow to help spark the running game against the Packers, but after Green Bay built a 21-3 lead early in the second quarter, the Broncos were forced to air it out.
"The situation there was we got behind and really had to put it in the air, so there really wasn't an opportunity," Tebow said after the 49-23 loss to the Packers.
The fact that Broncos fans insist Tebow would be a better option than Kyle Orton is beyond me. Tebow was a fabulous football player at Florida and I believe will succeed at the NFL level because he won't let himself fail. That being said, I don't believe his success will come at quarterback.
