VIDEO: BIG EAST basketball team plays Chinese team; game ends in brawl

CREATED Aug. 18, 2011

The globalization of basketball has opened the door for international play between American teams (college and pro) and teams from overseas.

Often times these exhibition games are played during the off-season with the main focus being the experience of playing in a foreign country, and the extension of goodwill among the teams.

It's uncommon for these games to turn ugly.

But that's exactly what happened when the Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team played the Bayi Rockets in China. The game ended when a bench clearing brawl ensued following some rough play.

From a strictly observational standpoint, I'd say the Chinese team fared better in the skirmish. Are those chairs flying in the air? I think so!

I blame Yao Ming.
