White House clarifies Obama's Cutler dig
I came across this little nugget a little late in the game, but wanted to share with those who have not yet heard.
During the Packers trip to the White House last Friday, they presented President Obama a share of stock making him, in essence, a minority owner.
You may have heard Obama's comments following the presentation.
“If I’m a part owner,” Obama said, “I think we should initiate a trade to send Rodgers down to the Bears.”
As you might imagine, Obama's statement did not go over well in Chicago. Headlines such as, "Not even President Obama wants Cuter playing for the Chicago Bears" and "Obama not backing Cutler" surfaced immediately forcing the White House to issue a statement of clarification, which I have spelled out below.
"The President understands the value of having a reliable backup quarterback - and (Rodgers as a No. 2 behind Cutler) would make it more likely that he could greet the Bears at a similar ceremony at the White House next year."
