Tony Romo out at WSGA match play
It was a busy day on the golf course for Dallas Cowboys Quarterback and Burlington native Tony Romo. Playing in the WSGA match play championship on Grand Geneva's Brute course, Romo won his morning match against 21 year old Keith Buntrock 3 and 1, before losing his afternoon match against Steve Johnson 1 up.
Romo qualified as a number 1 seed following a 2 under-par 70 during the stroke play qualifying round yesterday.
After being down 4 to the 64th seeded Buntrock after 4 holes this morning, Romo brought things back to even after 9 before pulling away from Buntrock on the back.
In the afternoon, the 33rd seeded Johnson held an advantage over Romo from the third hole on. Romo never trailed by more than two holes on his way to shooting a 1 over-par 73.
Romo listed his home course as Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine, and carries a handicap of 1.6.
