Happy 45th birthday, Milwaukee Bucks!

By Jay Sorgi. CREATED Oct 16, 2013

It's not every day a sports franchise reaches a landmark birthday, so local basketball fans should mark October 16th as an important day in Milwaukee.

It was 45 years ago today that the Bucks played their first game, a contest against the Chicago Bulls at the Milwaukee Arena.

Since then, they picked up one of the greatest centers in NBA history in 1969-70...

...won an NBA championship a year later...

...had a decade of dominance in some pretty snazzy uniforms...

...and have begun to grow a future with lots of promise again, all on a new court that celebrates its heritage.

Happy birthday, Bucks!
