Gord Ash: Brewers have 'exceeded' expectations

By Jay Sorgi. CREATED Aug 26, 2014
August and September pennant race baseball brings a case of nervousness to player and fan alike.

It's not an emotion the Milwaukee Brewers were expecting to be experiencing in 2014.

Brewers Vice President and Assistant General Manager Gord Ash told 620WTMJ "Wisconsin's Morning News" that he's glad to be experiencing that in a year where the Brewers weren't prognosticated to be a playoff contender.

On those expectations, Ash said "I think they've been exceeded.  I think what helped was the great start we got off too.  We had a difficult schedule in April, some tough road games, and came through that in very good shape.  That really set us up for the rest of the year."

It has also set up scoreboard watching as a regular activity among the Brewers staff.

"We're all human.  You find yourself checking your phone and looking at scores...we're fans as well.  That's a big part of September baseball."
