Former Brewers, Cubs manager Sveum lands new job

A former Milwaukee Brewers manager who didn't bring the Chicago Cubs out of their century of discontent has landed a new job.

The Kansas City Royals tweeted this Thursday:

Sveum managed the final 12 games of the 2008 regular season as the team made its first playoff appearance in 26 years that year, but the Brewers chose Ken Macha as its permanent manager instead.

The man whose firing led to Sveum's temporary management stint, Ned Yost, brought on Sveum. He just signed a two-year contract extension.

Sveum is best known for his 1987 Easter Sunday home run that won the Brewers their 12th consecutive season-starting game.
