MILWAUKEE - The Brewers have traded outfielder Norichika Aoki to the Kansas City Royals, the team announced Thursday morning.
In return for the trade, the Brewers acquired left-handed pitcher Will Smith.
"Will Smith is someone we have liked for a couple of years now,” said General Manger Doug Melvin. “We had the chance to acquire a 24-year-old big physical left-hander who we feel can be a part of our staff. We could not walk away from the opportunity.”
Smith has a 8-10 record with Kansas City and a career ERA of 4.76.
After the trade was announced, he talked with media members who sent these tweets:
#Brewers' Will Smith is very good friends with Johnny Hellweg. They're already planning Spring Training accommodations.— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) December 5, 2013
I won the prize on the Will Smith conference call by asking him about Fresh Prince of Bel Air references. He has heard them all.— Tom (@Haudricourt) December 5, 2013

No, Brewers pitcher Will Smith will not be dressing in black on the field, like the actor/rapper he's referring to:
Aoki played in 306 games for the Brewers across the 2012 and 2013 seasons, and compiled a .287 batting average.
The move could potentially open up space for Ryan Braun and a possible move to right field, giving young slugger Khris Davis a spot in left field.
