Block: Young Brewers 'playing really hard' and 'winning games'

The Milwaukee Brewers are 18 games behind the final wildcard spot with 12 games left to play.

If Tuesday night's heart-stopping win over the Chicago Cubs is any indication, they're not mailing in the season.

"The Brewers have a lot of young guys up. They're playing really hard. Not to say the veterans aren't, too. This whole team has played hard down the stretch. It's nice to see in mid-September, these guys are winning games...and in dramatic fashion, too," said 620WTMJ Milwaukee Brewers co-radio voice Joe Block on "Wisconsin's Morning News."

"Every game stands on its own.  I know the season hasn't been what the Brewers hoped for, but there have been some fun games here lately, too."

Much like that victory, where Marco Estrada pitched a gem for most of the way before giving up three runs in the seventh inning.  He's got a 2.74 ERA in his outings in August and September.

"If he pitches like this, you've got to keep him in the rotation.  His command has been very, very good," said Block.

"We'll have to see what the Brewers do rotation-wise.  I think everyone thought the Brewers needed better rotation depth.  Injuries are going to happen.  The more guys they have that can start effectively, the better for next season."
