Apparently, the performance of Packers backup quarterback Vince Young on Friday night against Seattle, and the lack of performance by Graham Harrell in that same game, has led to a decision by coach Mike McCarthy as to who will back up Aaron Rodgers.
ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted this Saturday:
Looks as if Vince Young has won Packers backup QB job. Packers are releasing QB Graham Harrell.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 24, 2013
One game does not make a decision, but check out the stat-lines for Friday:
- Young: 6-7 for 41 yds, 39 yards rushing and a touchdown pass.
- Harrell: 6-14 for 49 yards.
After the game Friday, McCarthy talked with Packers radio analyst Larry McCarren in an exclusive conversation.
He went into the backup quarterback battle, saying "It's not resolved....we still have time left...Vince Young, I thought he took a step today...took the team down the field, looked in command."
