The Green Bay Packers will have to wear their yellow helmets and not the Hershey's Chocolate brown when they put on the Acme throwbacks this year.

The Packers announced Wednesday they would wear their gold Packers helmets without the "G" decal when they play the Cleveland Browns on October 20.

NBCSports.com said Tuesday that the NFL is asking teams use their regular helmets when they wear throwback uniforms this season, for safety reasons.

Over the years, when the Packers have worn their throwback jerseys harkening back to 1929, they wore dark brown helmets to go with their navy blue and gold jerseys and khaki pants.

The helmet and pant colors matched what their 1929 predecessors wore in the days of leather helmets and canvas pants.

The league said, according to NBC, that the team can add or take off decals from those helmets, but they must wear the actual regular gameday helmet.
