It's often said that Green Bay may be the most friendly, wonderful place to be if you're an NFL player, but the cold of winter tends to get you to live south of there during the off-season.

Not so for Jordy Nelson this year.

"This year will be the first year our wife will be here the off-season.  Our son goes to school twice-a-week for a few hours...want to continue that," Nelson said exclusively on 620WTMJ's "Wisconsin's Afternoon News."

Normally, he heads back to his family's home base of Kansas, and he will go back for a portion of time, besides his charity efforts including the takeover of the Donald Driver softball game this summer.

"I'll be taking someone back in June because our family does a benefit back home.  My goal is to take someone back every year and hang out in Kansas for a weekend."

What will his off-season consist of?

"I take a lot of time off.  Especially after a year like this year, played a lot of snaps, want to let the body heal up.  Relax, get away from football," said Nelson.

"You're not going to see me touch a weight until as early as March.  I let the body relax.  I'll start by March, probably get bored."
