Dry Cleaners are getting crushed

Dry Cleaners are getting crushed

By John Mercure. CREATED Apr 10, 2014

About two years ago my local dry cleaner went out of business. I was bummed. It was close to my home, the people were nice, and the prices were competitive. The owner told me at the time it was because fewer and fewer people were dressing up and so his customers came in less and less frequently.

Today I visited my new dry cleaner and as I picked up my handful of shirts, it struck me. Every time I come to the cleaner, I'm the only one in the store. I don't think I've ever seen another person in there. Ever.

I'm also guilty. When I was  TV reporter, I wore a suit and tie with a white dress shirt every day. Now I dress business casual. And I can wash those clothes myself. I head to the dry cleaner once every couple of months.

Do you still use the dry cleaner? How often? How crowded is it?
