Sorry Coach, Got To Go - I'm Having A Baby
Last season, New York Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy missed one game all year. This season, he's already missed two.
It seems that Murphy's wife went into labor on Opening Day and that Murphy immediately left the team to be with her. Murphy also decided to stay away for the full three days of paternity leave allowed by Major League Baseball.
This decision has drawn a lot of criticism from various commentators. Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason opined that Mrs. Murphy should have had a C-section before the season started. Another suggested that Murphy should have returned to the team immediately after his child was born (assuming that there were no complications). A third tjought that taking three days off was absurd!
During the 2 p.m. hour of Thursday's radion show, we'll discuss whether Daniel Murphy let his teammates down by bailing on them to be with his wife?
