Smell That Smell

Smell That Smell

Advanced Waste Services owns ChemWorks, an industrial waste and disposal company that has operated for years near Milwaukee's Miller Valley.  The smells eminating from the facility have led to it being referred to as "a public nuisance".

ChemWorks is in the process of  relocating to an industrial park in Menominee Falls.  Last September, the Village gave the company the green light to start operations.  Now that the public has learned that the new facility will be opening in the Village, officials are under pressure to reverse their decision.

For its part, ChemWorks says its new facility will be state of the art and therefore not suffer from the problems that its previous plant has experienced.

Pulling a building permit at this point in time would preumably open the Village to litigation.  Litigation is something taxpayers in Menominee Falls are, unfortunately, all too familiar with.

So, should Menominee Falls pull the plug on ChemWorks?

We'll discuss the matter during the 1 p.m. hour of Tuesday's radio show.  Please feel free to share your thoughts in the Comments section - and be sure to check back later to hear a replay of the segment.
