Milwaukee County's War On Concealed Carry
It's no secret that Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Police Chief Ed Flynn are not exactly fans of law-abiding citizens being able to carry firearms to protect themselves. It's also no secret that pro-gun advocates are occasionally their own worst enemies.
That said, the case of John Guyton is certainly an interesting one.
Guyton is a 41-year-old concealed carry permit holder. Last week, he went to Riverside University High School to pick up his daughter. Guyton was carrying a handgun.
As Guyton began to walk towards the metal detector, he apparently realized that he had his handgun with him (guns are not permitted on school premises). He then turned around, exited the building and went to his car in the parking lot (where he dropped off the the gun).
When he tried to re-enter the building, a school safety officer told him he could not go in because they thought he had a gun. A search of his car subsequently found the firearm.
Guyton has now been charged with a felony for possessing a firearm on school grounds. A felony!
During the 12 p.m. hour of Tuesday's radio show, we'll discuss whether this is an overreaction to what might be an honest mistake?
