Mary Mary Quite Contrary
It's pretty clear what the race for Governor is going to look like in Wisconsin over the next nine months.
Scott Walker will say something and Mary Burke, the woman who would be Governor, will say the opposite. Regardless of whether it represents good public policy or makes any sense at all, Mary Burke will say the opposite.
In other words, Mary Mary quite contrary.
The latest example of this is Burke's position on Wisconsin's tax surplus.
After inheriting a State with a multi-billion dollar deficit, Wisconsin now has a $1 billion budget surplus. Governor Walker wants to return some of that surplus to taxpayers in the form of a tax cut. Burke finds the idea of lowering taxes to be "irresponsible".
It seems to me that "irresponsible" would be the word to apply to the prevous Administration whose policies led to a huge deficit.
In any event, is it "irresponsible" to return some of the State surplus to taxpayers?
We'll discuss the question during the 12 p.m. hour of Tuesday's radio show. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the Comments section - and be sure to check back later to hear a replay of the segment.
