The End Of Birth Announcements - Precaution or Paranoia?

The End Of Birth Announcements - Precaution or Paranoia?

By Jeff Wagner. CREATED Jan 1, 2014

The Wisconsin State Journal will no longer publish birth announcements because Madison's two major baby hospitals have stopped providing information to the newspaper.  The hospitals are concerned that criminals might use the information to steal the newborns.

Historically, the newspaper has not published birth information provided by hospitals absent to consent of the parents.  Now, parents won't have the option.

So, is this a wise precautionary measure or an example of out of control paranoia?

We'll talk about the issue during the 2 p.m. hour of Thursday's radio show.  Please feel free to share your thoughts in the Comments section and be sure to check back later to hear a replay of the discussion.
