Don't Poke Me Bro
Personally, I'm a believer in flu shots. Each year, my employer offers them for free - and I'm glad to take advantage of the opportunity.
Still, I have the option of whether or not to get the shot.
Many health providers in Wisconsin do not give their employees the option. The thinking is that people who work in the health care field will often come into contact with sick patients. The last thing a clinic or hospital wants to see happen is that an already ill patient catches the flu from an employee.
Still, for a variety of reasons, many employees choose not to get vaccinated.
Legislation currently making its way through the Capitol would prevent employers from disciplining or penalizing in any way employees for declining to get a flu shot.
So, is this a necessary law or is it an unreasonable limitation on the power of an employer? We'll discuss the issue during the 1 p.m. hour of today's show. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the Comments section - and be sure to check back later to hear a replay of the conversation.
