A Coyote Ate Fluffy - Authorities Say Deal With It
If you own a home in the North Shore of Milwaukee (and pay thousands or perhaps tens of thousands of dollars in property taxes for the privilege), I think there are some things you should get in return.
For example, I think you should get your garbage picked up and the snow on the street in front of your home plowed.
I also think you should be able to put your dog or cat out in your backyard without having to worry about it being eaten by a coyote! Unfortunately, authorities don't appear to agree with me.
For whatever reason, coyotes and other predators have begun moving into urban areas around here. Coyotes in particular like to attack some pets. In general, the response of authorities is to "deal with it".
Not "deal with it" as in "we'll hunt the predators and get rid of them". "Deal with it" as in "don't leave animals or small children unattended and if you see a coyote, try to scare it off". "Deal with it" as in "don't put up bird feeders and feed your pets indoors".
During the 1 p.m. hour of Wednesday's radio show, we'll disuss whether homeowners facing this problem should be permitted to be more proactive in ridding their property of scavengers.
