It's Like Being Called A Train Wreck By Lindsay Lohan
Ouch. That had to hurt.
First four, now five members of the Milwaukee County Board are trying to remove County Board Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic. Dimitrijevic is the politically ambitious, self-promoting County Board leader who got herself caught telling a whopper of a story about negotiations that were being conducted between an arm of the County Board and a decertified union.
Despite written evidence to the contrary, Dimitrijevic has maintained that there were no negotiations with the union. Conversations, yes. Discussions, perhaps. Negotiations, no. In other words, you say "potato", I say "patato".
Frankly, Dimitrijevic's explanation is very Clintonesque. You know, it kind of depends on what the definition of "is" is?
In any event, the four somewhat conservative members of the Board are trying to dump Dimitrijevic. They have been joined in their effort by County Supervisor John Weishan, a very liberal back bencher who is said to aspire to be County Board Chairperson himself.
As an aside, why would anyone dream of being the chairperson of the Milwaukee County Board?
The memo originally circulated among supervisors by three conservative County Board members and Weishan sought support for the ouster of Dimitrijevic based on her series of "political blunders and incredible embarrassment to the Milwaukee County Board ... ."
This is, of course, the same John Weishan who voted in favor of the legislation which led to the Milwaukee County pension scandal.
The same John Weishan who traveled the State trying unsuccessfully to imply that Governor Walker had perhaps engaged in criminal wrongdoing that might be uncovered as part of the now-abandoned John Doe probe.
The same John Weishan who has in the past pushed for an increase in the Milwaukee County sales tax.
The same John Weishan who ... Well, I could go on but you get the idea.
Anyway, Weishan says that Dimitrijevic has committed political blunders and [caused] incredible embarrassment to the Board!
In this case, Weishan might be correct (and I don't say that very often). Still,I could understand if Dimitrijevic would be a little sensitive to the identity of the messenger.
After all, being accused of political blundering and causing embarrassment by John Weishan is like being called a train wreck by Lindsay Lohan.
Then again, I guess Weishan should know.
