A trip to Australia won by a U.S. Marine and his wife on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" turned tragic this weekend.
Gunnery Sgt. Brandon McGraw was pronounced dead at the scene after going into cardiac arrest. His parachute did deploy, but he had to crash land. McGraw was 33 years old.
His wife Cherilyn wasn't harmed. Neighbors told local station WITN McGraw was a brave man who enjoyed taking on new risks. They lowered their flags to half-mast in his honor
Ellen DeGeneres released the following statement to NBC News, "I've been speaking with Cherilyn. And my staff has been in touch with her as well. She's asked us to help keep this private as she tries to deal with this unimaginable tragedy. I hope everyone respects that."
