Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan is in critical condition following a six-vehicle crash on the New Jersey Turnpike early Saturday morning
Police say the crash was caused by “a dozing truck driver didn't see traffic slowing in front of his 18-wheeler until it was too late, crashing into the vehicle carrying comedian Tracy Morgan and his entourage,” ABC News reports
. One person on the Mercedes limo bus carrying Morgan was killed and three others were injured.
Morgan, 45, is best known for his stints on “30 Rock” and “Saturday Night Live.” He is the father of four children, including an 11-month-old daughter with fiancee Megan Wollover.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. The actor is being treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.
"His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care," according to a statement from his rep, Lewis Kay. "We don't anticipate much of a change in his condition today."
The man killed, James McNair, was a comedy writer for Morgan.
“Morgan's assistant, Jeff Millea, was also in critical condition after he was injured,” reports ABC News. “Two others on board the limo bus were injured in the crash but their conditions hadn't been released as of midday.”
Morgan and his entourage had been returning from a performance of his "Turn it Funny" tour in Dover, Del., Friday night, according to ABC. He had been scheduled to perform in Charlotte, N.C., tonight, but that appearance has since been canceled.
