As it always seems to be with the injury front, it was a mixed bag for the Green Bay Packers on Friday.
The Journal Sentinel's Tyler Dunne reported Friday about cornerback Casey Hayward, who has missed the entire season with a hamstring injury:
McCarthy on Hayward: Casey's further ahead this week than last week, but he's not ready to go.— Tyler Dunne (@TyDunne) October 11, 2013
Also, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, linebacker Clay Matthews will miss 3-4 weeks of action:
MM on Matthews a return in 3-4 weeks: "That's what I was told yesterday when I had a chance to sit down with (Dr.) Pat (McKenzie).— Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) October 11, 2013
But Matthews wasn't the only injury concern at linebacker Friday:
#Packers appear even thinner at linebacker. Sam Barrington, the only available backup at the inside spots, was not practicing.— Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) October 11, 2013
After practice, however, McCarthy didn't show deep concern about Barrington.
McCarthy on ILBs: Hawk, Lattimore had a good week. Feel that Barrington will be ready for Sunday.— Tyler Dunne (@TyDunne) October 11, 2013
There was other good news - a linebacker and two cornerbacks, including a starter, both overcame injury to get back on the practice field and prepare for Sunday's game with the Baltimore Ravens.
OLB Andy Mulumba and CB Jarrett Bush both returned to practice. Also CB Casey Hayward was practicing for the second straight day. #Packers— Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) October 11, 2013
Also, on the defensive line:
