One game does not make a prediction of greatness, but based on the performance of Eddie Lacy for the Green Bay Packers in their 19-7 win over the St. Louis Rams, it bodes well for the promise given for him after the Packers drafted him.
Yet Lacy shows he's got a lot to go, despite 40 yards and five yards per carry.
"I felt good. I look at it as a starting point...improve in a bunch of different areas," Lacy told our Larry McCarren after the Packers win.
"I felt good out there. I was nervous at first...I'm always nervous...I felt like the offensive line did good tonight and I was able to get a few good runs."
Lacy realized that pro football is much faster paced than the college game, just like game action is much faster paced than practice.
"It was faster. We got to the line, set up faster, but it was kind of like practice."
