  • MILWAUKEE - People in Southeastern Wisconsin woke up to near-freezing conditions across much of the area.

As they experience their day, they'll feel a warmup with fast winds blowing in the Milwaukee area.

  • "The atmosphere is digging a trough in the air over our heads and surface low pressure will drag a cold front through the area late today into tonight," said Storm Team 4Caster Scott Steele.

"Ahead of the system, very strong southwest winds gusting to 40 miles per hour will drive readings much higher than yesterday with highs in the low to mid 70s."

Scott tells us we should expect a mix of clouds and sun due to those winds and the coming weather system, along with possible rain tonight.

  • "The combination of these factors will lead to a variety of sky conditions through the day. We'll see plenty of sunshine, initially. Clouds will build by midday and showers are likely to develop with forcing in the late afternoon and evening. There is enough support to mention the possiblility of a few embedded thunderstorms, too."

Scott also says that more sun, and less heat, is expected after the weather system leaves us.

"Look for plenty of sunshine and cooler readings again for Thursday before the next rapidly approaching system brings more showers for Friday."
