McCarthy: Packers have Pro Bowlers, even if voters disagree

CREATED Dec. 31, 2013

For the first time in eight years, the Green Bay Packers did not have any players chosen to take part in the Pro Bowl.

However, Mike McCarthy disagrees with the assessment that the Packers don't have Pro Bowl-worthy players this season.

"We have Pro Bowl players on our football team," he said on his show which airs on TODAY'S TMJ4 and NBC26.

"I think everybody recognizes that.  We didn't get voted in.  Your record has something to do with that.  It's a new format, so you don't really know what to compare it to."

He cited two particular players - guard Josh Sitton and wide receiver Jordy Nelson (85 receptions, 1,314 yards, eight touchdown receptions in 2013).

"I think Josh has had his finest season as a Green Bay Packer, and Jordy's been Jordy.  He's a Pro Bowler.  Those two definitely were worthy of that."
