Melvin reveals Ramirez's status after injury during Brewers-Braves fight

CREATED Sep. 26, 2013

A Milwaukee Brewers starting third baseman is waiting to find out if he'll be in the lineup for tonight's Brewers-New York Mets game after re-injuring his knee during a fight on the field.

It happened Wednesday night during the fracas in the first inning of the Milwaukee Brewers-Atlanta Braves game.

"He tweaked his knee a little bit as he went into separate people," said general manager Doug Melvin on 620WTMJ's "Wisconsin's Morning News."

"It's a day to day thing for him.  We know he's had a history of that knee problem.  We'll see if he's in there today or not."

Melvin expressed how much he dislikes brawls in baseball.

"You hate to see that, because you always live in fear of injury," he explained.

"Guys have been hurt seriously through those kind of altercations.  You hate to see that happen.  It's not good for our game."
