Braun's restaurant to close, SURG ends relationship with suspended slugger

CREATED Sep. 5, 2013

The Milwaukee Brewers' suspended slugger will no longer have a relationship with the restaurant group with which he has involvement in two ventures.

SURG and Ryan Braun will end their relationship.

Braun's "Graffito" restaurant on Water Street will be closed at the end of the year.  It's already called "Graffito," and no longer "Ryan Braun's Graffito."

He also has been part of the 8*Twelve venture with Packers QB Aaron Rodgers as part of the SURG group.

That relationship will end as well, with his "8" being taken off of 8*twelve's name of the current Brookfield and future Glendale location.

"We've appreciated the relationship we had with Ryan over the last several years, and the entire SURG family wishes him success in the future," said Michael Polaski, SURG's CEO and co-owner, in a statement.

Omar Shaikh, a co-owner with SURG, tweeted the following:

Braun was suspended 65 games for issues connected to performance-enhancing drug use.

On Thursday, Brewers COO Rick Schlesinger confirmed to 620WTMJ's "Wisconsin's Afternoon News" that he is calling ticket holders to apologize for his actions.
