Rodgers practices again, will be evaluated Friday

CREATED Dec. 12, 2013 - UPDATED: Dec. 12, 2013

A decision may not come until game time Sunday for Aaron Rodgers to play quarterback for the Green Bay Packers against the Dallas Cowboys, but Packers coach Mike McCarthy says he has not been cleared yet to play.

But he was getting prepared, testing his broken clavicle, and "did a little more today."

He will be evaluated tomorrow, according to the Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein.

But this report from Fox Sports' Paul Imig brings caution.

From two Journal Sentinel reporters:

According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, an even better sign, or at least a test of whether he can do handoffs:

The question is, even if he is medically cleared after a bone scan and other medical hurdles to climb, is there a chance the Packers may still sit him down?

"The scan has to show his shoulder is healed. Once that happens...say it happened today...then the coaches have to decide, 'Has Aaron had enough training in this particular week for the Cowboys game?' " said Wayne Larrivee, 620WTMJ's "Voice of the Packers," on "Wisconsin's Morning News."

"I took it as a matter of preparation. He might be medically cleared, but will he be prepared to run the game plan?"

If McCarthy has to decide to sit him due to lack of preparation, how would that discussion go between the coach and his star quarterback?

"That would be an interesting conversation, especially with Aaron Rodgers who desparately wants to get back in. They would hack it out and figure out what the best thing is to do."
