Report: Packers sign defensive back to four-year deal

CREATED Jul. 15, 2013 - UPDATED: Jul. 15, 2013

GREEN BAY - The Packers have signed one of their top young defensive backs to an extension, according to a report.

NFL.com reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted this Monday:

Burnett has started all 16 games for the Packers in each of the last two seasons.

He was a 2010 third-round draft pick, and is only 24 years old.

He has six career interceptions and 244 tackles with the Packers, and was the top non-linebacker in the NFL in tackles during the 2012 season.

However, what that means may not just be a tribute to his talent, but a way of revealing shortcomings in the Packers defense which the team is trying to resolve.
