Report: Clay Matthews' pins taken out of his injured thumb

By Jay Sorgi. CREATED Jan 28, 2014

The Green Bay Packers' most feared defender has had another surgical procedure done on his twice-injured thumb.

Clay Matthews had pins taken out of his right thumb, which was broken both in October against the Detroit Lions and December against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Fox Sports.

"I need to get healthy," Matthews said to Fox Sports "Rehab my thumb and get it back to 100 percent so that way there is no setback starting next season."
