Packers Planet joins in thoughts, prayers after reported death of Adrian Peterson's son

CREATED Oct. 11, 2013 - UPDATED: Oct. 11, 2013

Packers players and fans are joining in thoughts and prayers across the NFL landscape for the family of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson after his son reportedly died.

The reports, by the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Chip Scoggins and by KSTP-TV, has been part of a day filled with sympathy across the league.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press says they talked to Peterson's father, and he confirmed before the death that one of Peterson's sons was in critical condition after being beaten.

USA Today says the current boyfriend of the child's mother has reportedly been charged in the case of the beating.

Law enforcement say that the boy was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived at an apartment in Sioux Falls, SD.

Peterson headed to South Dakota Thursday, but returned to practice.

He spoke to KSTP-TV before the report of his son's death, and said "Football is something I'll always fall back on. It gets me through tough times. Being around the guys in here, that's what I need...One thing that I always bounce back to is the good Lord never gives you more than you can bare and you can handle...I'm built tough."

Prayers have spread across the NFL family, including Packers fans before...

...and after word broke about the boy's death...

Peterson answered people's tweets of prayers and thoughts Friday:
