JetBlue released the following statement:
"Due to a customer issue, the Captain on JetBlue flight #211 JFK-Las Vegas elected to divert to Detroit this morning in an abundance of caution.
"The flight departed Kennedy at about 7 a.m. and arrived into Detroit at 8:30 a.m. where it was met by local authorities," the statement continued.
"The customer in question was removed from the flight. The aircraft then continued on to Las Vegas after about two hours on the ground.
"The flight should arrive in Vegas around 11:30 a.m. local time."
