For The Associated Press' annual survey, 70 ballots were submitted by U.S. editors and news directors, answering the sole question, "who had the most influence on entertainment and culture in 2013?" The winner by one vote for "Entertainer of the Year" is Jennifer Lawrence.

"Lawrence -- who started the year with an Academy Award for best actress, fueled a box-office franchise as 'The Hunger Games' heroine Katniss Everdeen, and wrapped 2013 with a critically acclaimed performance in 'American Hustle' that just earned Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations -- charmed fans everywhere with her candid sincerity," reports Access Hollywood. "She was also a fashion darling -- a muse for Dior."

"Entertainer of the Year" has an almost seven-year streak of female winners: Adele, Lady Gaga, Tina Fey, Betty White and Taylor Swift, minus the year Stephen Colbert upset the winning.

With 15 votes, Lawrence barely snuck past runner-up Miley Cyrus' 14 votes. Yet, "raising eyebrows throughout 2013 with her [Cyrus] embrace of twerking, nudity and public pot smoking," as noted by the Associated Press, many would agree that the better "role model" of entertainment won.

Sitting down with Barbara Walters for her annual ABC News special "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People" of 2013, Jennifer Lawrence said, "I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV... I mean, if we're regulating cigarettes and sex and cuss words because of the effect they have on younger generation, why aren't we regulating things like calling people fat?"

Jennifer Lawrence not only has had a positive influence on entertainment in 2013, but hopefully continues her effect on culture into the new year.
