Shorewood woman overcharged through online deal gets refund

SHOREWOOD - Some progress for a Shorewood couple who is fighting an air duct cleaning company.

It all started with an online coupon and ended up with sticker shock.

Nick Hardrath and his Fiancee, Heidi Stangl bought a Groupon to get their air ducts cleaned, but when the vendor, Home Service Guys, showed up they said it would cost $105 more.

Stangl agreed to the extra money and the worker used an Ipad with a card reader to swipe her credit card.

But when the bill came it was for more than $1000.

Late Thursday, Groupon refunded the cost of the voucher and gave them an additional $50 credit.

Capitol One who issued the credit card is now investigating.

"We hope they would back [us] up and represent the consumer, we have all the paperwork showing we were in the right." Said Hardrath.

Home Service Guys has no business license in Wisconsin.

We have tried numbers ways to get a comment from the company based out of Indiana, emails and phone calls have not been returned.

If anyone wants to file a complaint with the Division of Consumer Protection, call their  hotline: 800-422-7128
