BURLINGTON - A dog found emaciated after a stay at a Burlington kennel is out of the hospital.
“Mojo” is doing a lot better, but he's not out of the woods yet. Just last week, he was nothing but skin and bones. Now, he's gained some weight and is getting around -- slowly, but surely. He still has to fight for a full recovery, but now he can do it with his family by his side.
"His energy level is up," explains owner Joanne Kumprey. "He's eating. He's drinking."
That's a big improvement over his condition last week, when the Kumprey family came home from vacation to find Mojo emaciated and injured, after a stay at Dale Creek Gundogs in Burlington. The kennel maintains they did nothing wrong.
The Kumpreys say Mojo's kidneys are damaged and he's going to lose a toe. He's also on antibiotics and a special diet, but he's come a long way from the ICU.
He’s making it one day at a time -- now, from the comfort of his own home.
"Our concern is just getting him his health back. I mean, we want him back in the house, we want him healthy, and we want him with us for a long time."
They Kumpreys say they've been overwhelmed by the support they've received.
