GRAFTON - State lawmakers are pushing hard to raise the speed limit to 70 on most Wisconsin interstates, which prompted Speedbusters to ask how fast will people really be driving?
We set up with the radar gun on the I-43 overpass at Grafton and played pacecar for traffic on the highway.
No surprises, either way.
Most drivers are already over the proposed 70 mile per hour limit.
Changing a law nobody seems to obey comes at a price, by the way. Updating 576 speed limit signs along 1,100 miles of highway will cost $213,000.
But that's what appears to be coming down the road, as the senate will take up the change next month and drivers could be ignoring a new speed limit by 2014.
