WEST ALLIS - Pete Grendysa has called West Allis home for 17 years, and he's learned drivers on 116th Street share a certain mindset.
"Gotta get home, gotta go, gotta go, you know," Grendysa said, describing their attitude.
The limit here is 35 and some of the time cars stick close to it. Though Grendysa says most of the time they don't.
"It's like a racetrack, certain times of the day," he said.
During lunch hour, the average kept creeping higher the longer we hung around. That may not sound like a big deal -- until you realize this is a residential area.
Pete Grendysa said we could have found cars going even faster had we stayed longer.
When school lets out, he says the drag racing really starts.
"They gotta impress people," he said. "Hey I'm somebody! Look how fast I can drive."
