WEST BEND - With most drivers in downtown West Bend hanging pretty close to the speed limit, this stop was one of those visits where the radar gun did not prove too useful.
Though Cheryl Hernandez said there is plenty of reason for pedestrians on 7th Avenue to be afraid.
"I refuse to get across traffic," Hernandez said. "I will wait until there are no cars."
Hernandez lives on Main Street but is forced to park a couple blocks away, which means she crosses 7th Avenue several times a day to get to and from her car.
She wishes those driving through her neighborhood spent a little more time worrying about where they are going.
"On the cell phone, heads down, shuffling around on the seats, underneath the seats," she said of the the ways drivers are distracted. "Everything they're not supposed to do."
