MILWAUKEE - The videos are all over the Internet - instructions on how to tap your way to a better life!
It's called "Emotional Freedom Techniques" - or EFT for short.
The videos featuring people lighting tapping their foreheads, faces, wrists and other parts of their bodies.
Sophia Cayer, is an "EFT Founding Master" and wrote a book about the technique.
Like acupuncture, EFT views all parts of the body as connected by invisible channels known as meridians.
"Those meridians are actually like electrical lines running through your body," says Cayer.
She says negative experiences can disrupt those lines creating a painful blockage.
"When we're doing the tapping, it's more like sending thunderbolts through there," she says.
"In a matter of moments, you begin to feel a positive response."
"It allows our bodies and minds to do what they know how to do which is heal themselves," she says.
"It restores that balance to body and mind."
And she says it can do the same for others if you just tap FOR them! That is, you tap on your own face watch for it to have an effect.
"So if you're on a plane and baby is crying, you can calm the baby!" says Sophia.
Some EFT masters advocate the approach for veterans suffering from PTSD.
But EFT advocates say tapping alone should not be used to substitute for professional medical care.
It's not a silver bullet or a cure all but when we learn to use it appropriately and get guidance, it's astounding what can be accomplished," says Sophia.
