Diagnosed with cancer at age 3, we first met Michael back in 2006, right after finishing his treatment. The following year he was named designer of the TMJ4 MACC Star.
He was feeling good and living life, but then the unthinkable.
Five years after being off treatment, the cancer was back.
Michael has faced great pain and horrible side effects.
He has missed school and endured hospital stays on birthdays and holidays. His mom, dad, and older brother Richard are his biggest cheerleaders, and through it all Michael keeps pushing.
So after 10 years and two battles of cancer, it is no surprise that Michael's entire extended family and some friends would be present for this long awaited day. His last chemo treatment.
There is a ceremony at Children's Hospital, a ritual if you will, for kids who finish chemo.
"When your last chemo has come and gone, everyone knows you're done," Michael says.
